Etihad Airways Announces Biggest US Expansion In History: 42% Flight Surge

Etihad is one of nine Middle Eastern passenger airlines with US flights this year. Given the ongoing war in Iran, with widespread consequences, the market is, of course, somewhat disrupted, and might be for some time. Nonetheless, big changes are afoot. According to Etihad's schedule submission to OAG, its June plan shows an average of 7.1 daily departures from its Abu Dhabi hub to the US. Its offering has increased from 5.0 daily services in June 2025, which is a substantial rise of 42%, albeit from a comparatively small base. It has scheduled more US flights in 2026 than in any other year.

Singapore Airlines Pulls Airbus A380 Flights From This Major Long-Haul Route

The war in Iran continues to have many consequences, with widespread impacts on aviation. As Aeroroutes identified, one of the latest developments is that  Singapore Airlines has temporarily closed bookings on flights between Singapore and Dubai. Flightradar24 shows that services haven't operated recently anyway. This development might not be overly notable in itself, as many carriers have done similarly. Given the ongoing circumstances, they have relatively little choice. But it is notable because Singapore Airlines' Airbus A380 was due to replace the Boeing 777-300ER on March 29, which is day one of the northern aviation summer, based on IATA slot seasons.

The Carrier That First Introduced Premium Economy On Long-Haul Routes

The glamour of aviation often centers on the lie-flat suites of first class or the efficiency of a budget ticket, but in 1992, that all changed with the introduction of a new class altogether. EVA Air, a carrier that began as a subsidiary of a massive shipping conglomerate, looked at the empty space between the front and back of the aircraft and saw an opportunity rather than a void. This guide explores how the Taiwanese airline pioneered the premium economy concept, a gamble that eventually forced every major legacy carrier to reconsider its cabin maps.
