Gilat announces USD 7 million order for Aerostream 60W Ka-band units

Gilat Satellite Networks’ Commercial Division has received a USD 7 million order for Gilat Wavestream’s Aerostream 60W Ka-band Wideband BUCs. They will be deployed as part of a next-gen in-flight connectivity solution to be installed on commercial aircraft, the company says, with deliveries expected over the next 24 months. The BUCs, designed to enable robust, high-speed in-flight connectivity across both LEO and GEO satellite constellations, operate in the 27.5 to 30.0 GHz range.

Thai Airways to equip Dreamliner fleet with NSG Skywaves connectivity

Thai Airways has become the first airline to commit to line-fit installation of the Skywaves in-flight connectivity solution from Neo Space Group (NSG) on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. All 34 of Thai Airways’ new Boeing 787 aircraft will be delivered with NSG’s multi-orbit IFC system installed at the factory, enabling inflight broadband speeds of up to a claimed 200 Mbps. NSG Skywaves uses SES’s Open Orbits network, combining Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) for low-latency, high-speed performance with Geostationary Orbit (GEO) for global coverage.

CesiumAstro, a space communications operator, has signed a memorandum of understanding with TCI Aircraft Interiors (TCI), a provider of aircraft cabin systems and in-flight connectivity (IFC) technologies, to evaluate advanced SATCOM technologies for commercial aviation. SES to launch Europe’s first satellite life extension mission

Satellite operator, SES, has entered into an agreement with Infinite Orbits to collaborate on Europe’s first commercial geostationary satellite life extension mission. The partnership reflects growing interest in in-orbit servicing as operators seek cost-effective and environmentally responsible solutions. Life extension missions reduce the need for replacement satellites, helping to limit space debris and improve resource efficiency. Under the agreement, Infinite Orbits will deploy its Endurance vehicle, which is a 750kg spacecraft designed for in-orbit servicing, to extend the operational life of an SES satellite.
